Dimensions: 9 × 12 inches
A colorful and densely layered mixed media collage by Luigi Cugini, signed and dated 1995. Constructed on board using cut magazine images, newsprint, fabric, paint, crayon, and pencil, the composition brings together fragmented figures, typography, and abstract geometric forms.
The work combines found imagery and printed text in a dynamic arrangement of overlapping materials, with passages of red, yellow, blue, and black punctuating the surface. References to art history, including Rembrandt, appear alongside illustrated figures, newspaper clippings, and gestural marks. The varied textures and juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated imagery give the piece a distinctive assemblage-like quality.
Condition: Vintage condition with visible wear and aging to the collage materials. Please see photographs for details.
